Rosemary Ivory OIL
The Ivory is synthetic bristle at its best, a cross between the feel of nylon and hog bristle.
“I launched this range just two years ago for the oil artist who wants a brush to keep its shape and is good to clean. It now out sells my Chungking Bristle! Synthetic Bristle at its best. A cross between the feel of Nylon and Hog Bristle. Having a good spring and perhaps most importantly no ‘spray’. Will carry a good load of oil paint unlike Nylon, for realistic work they are perhaps as close to ideal as it gets. In the words of the artist who helped me with the trials on this range ‘You’ve probably got the Holy Grail of brushes – what a treat!’”- Rosemary
The oval end can be used to both make sweeping strokes but also fine lines when held vertically
“A PAINTING IS A PICTORIAL REPRESENTATION OF AN ARTISTS INTELLIGENCE AND SENSITIVITY. TO PORTRAY THESE QUALITIES ONE NEEDS A BRUSH THAT’S RESPONSIVE TO EVERY NUANCED EMOTION. CARESSING THE PAINT WITH A HANDMADE ROSEMARY BRUSH IS A PRIVILEGE EVERY ARTIST SHOULD ENJOY.” – DAVID LEFFEL JUNE 2011
THANK YOU TO DAVID LEFFEL WHO SUGGESTED THIS ADDITION TO OUR RANGE AND WHO HONOURABLY CARRIED OUT TRIALS. THE EXTRA LENGTH ALLOWS A GREATER FLOW AND OF COURSE HOLDS MORE PAINT. AS THE BRUSH HEAD WEARS DOWN YOU ARE LEFT WITH A ‘TRADITIONAL’ FILBERT LENGTH.
The longer hair results in a loose brush with little “snap”.
Short Flats allow a much sturdier brush with a stronger “snap” creating sharper edges and control. Ideal for blocking in and impasto.
The dagger shape is for when a tighter mark is required, very controllable
